Frequently Asked Questions
What is Wavefloor?
Wavefloor is a volunteer organization that conducts wage surveys in nightlife. We started in 2025 as an initiative to analyze artist fees across venues. Our pilot project focuses on 2024 artist wages in New York City.
Why a wage survey?
We’re conducting a wage survey with the goal of achieving greater wage transparency in nightlife. Because of the opaque nature of fee structures at venues, many artists are unsure whether they’re charging enough. Additionally, wages may vary based on demographics, such as race, ethnicity, gender, and sexual orientation. We believe that with more transparency we can raise nightlife’s “wage floor,” which is the lowest amount of pay that a worker receives for their services in a field (hence the name Wavefloor). Our aim is to build the groundwork for achieving pay equity in nightlife.
Is my information secure?
Yes. We take the required measures to keep your information safe. We also take precautions to anonymize any data we receive. Find out more by reading our privacy policy.
How can I support?
Since our organization is volunteer run, we appreciate any contribution to help us sustain the project. We’re not taking donations at this time, but we’ll be asking for help to cover operating costs in the future.
